Program Description:

Material Culture and Cultures of Making in Taleggio Valley, Northern Italy, is a multidisciplinary fieldwork that proposes a contextualization of local architecture through anthropological lenses. The program encourages the students to engage in diverse methodological perspectives on the ethnographic practices (visual, observation, sketching, design) while introducing them to the architecture of Taleggio Valley and the periods, culture, and socio-environmental contexts represented by the site. Students will have the opportunity to work towards team projects focusing on the culture of making and the use of rocks in the local architecture, while engaging with local specialists, learning ethnographic methods and the integration of findings into a multipurpose narrative first-hand.
